Gritty NYC 2013 / Box Set

Gun Roze is a Toronto born Fine Art Photographer. His fascination with photography began with his first gifted camera at the age of 8.  After studying photography, he expanded his knowledge as a Master Analog Darkroom Printer for professional photographers throughout his 35 year long career. The demands for his expertise opened up work opportunities in Vancouver, San Francisco and New York City.

In 2012 while living and working in New York, Gun rediscovered 35mm colour negatives in his archives, all photographed in Manhattan thirty years earlier. After discovering his archived MANHATTAN 1982 negatives he was inspired to return to street photography, though with a resident’s perspective. With his point-and-shoot camera providing him with a similar quality to 35mm film, it was always present along his daily walking routes throughout Lower Manhattan and his Brooklyn neighbourhoods. He focused on capturing everyday street life and the intriguing details of his environment resulting in the series Gritty NYC 2013.
